General Manuel Belgrano Equestrian Monument

Located right across Casa Rosada in Plaza de Mayo, this monument was inaugurated in 1873 and dedicated to one of Argentina’s greatest heroes, General Manuel Belgrano (1770-1820) who was an economist, lawyer, politician and military leader born in the capital. He was one of the leaders of the Argentinian Declaration of Independence. The monument is made up of a bronze equestrian statue on a large granite pedestal, depicting General Belgrano holding the flag of Argentina.
