Lincoln

Located 143 miles north of London in Lincolnshire, Lincoln is relatively small cathedral city with an area of 14 sqm. It was founded by the Romans in 48 AD, where they built a fort surrounding the city. When William the Conqueror arrived in 1068, he ordered the building of Lincoln Castle with wood, which was eventually replaced with stone. The historic gothic style Lincoln cathedral, one of the oldest churches in England, was built between 1072 to 1092. For centuries, the city’s prosperity was based on wool and like other medieval towns in the country, it is famous for its craftsmen ship, such as: carpenters, blacksmiths, potters, shoemakers, butchers and bakers. It is a beautiful city, rich in history. It also has a strong student feeling because it is the base of University of Lincoln.
